Before you book.
Which timber is right for my floor?
That depends on the room, and it is the first thing we help you decide. Solid hardwood is milled from a single piece and can be re-sanded for generations. Engineered boards carry a genuine timber wear layer on a stable core, and over concrete slabs and heating they outperform solid while looking identical underfoot. Beyond both sit the specialty and imported timbers. The right answer comes from your subfloor, your light and the life the room leads, which is what the consultation is for. Ultimately, the choice is yours.
Can you lay over a concrete slab?
Yes. We moisture-test the slab before a board is ordered, level where needed, then direct-stick or float depending on the board and the room.
Does it work with underfloor heating?
Hydronic systems, yes: direct-stick, with the surface temperature kept within the board and coating manufacturers' limits. We confirm your system before quoting.
How long does an install take?
As long as the floor needs. Preparation, acclimatisation and the pattern all shape the schedule, so no two jobs run alike. You will have a fixed written schedule before we start, and we keep to it. If something on site changes the sequence, you hear about it first.
What happens during finishing?
The house rests while the floor is coated. You will need to vacate during finishing, the floor cures for at least 24 hours before it is walked on, and furniture returns after 48. We confirm the exact windows for your coating system before we begin.
When should flooring happen in a renovation?
Late in the build, but planned early. Boards go down after wet trades and painting are largely done, yet the measure, the moisture testing and the timber order belong months earlier. Bring us in at planning and the schedule takes care of itself.
Do you work with builders and architects?
Yes, and we are built for it. Safe work method statements prepared for every site, induction-ready teams, and itemised quotes that name the finish system so the project record is complete.
How far ahead should we book?
Typically within a couple of weeks. Tell us your dates early, especially in a renovation sequence, and we will hold the window.
Can you install flooring we have purchased ourselves?
Yes. We install client-supplied boards with the same preparation and care as our own. Our five-year workmanship warranty covers the laying; the boards themselves remain under their manufacturer's warranty.
